Methyl Chloride is a colourless inflammable gas heavier than air and with a very weak sweetish odour at ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure . In water it is only sparingly soluble but well in organic solvents. This product is colorless gas with a faint sweet odor .Its melting point is ?97 °C(lit.)
Boiling point is ?24.2 °C(lit.). It stable ,highly flammable. but incompatible with natural rubber and neoprene composites. It may react violently or explosively with interhalogens, magnesium, zinc, potassium, sodium or their alloys. It may decompose when exposured to moist air or water. It can be used to make other chemicals and as a herbicide. This product should be stored from 2°C to 8°C.
